Performance Chart

Dividend Cash Flow

The Dividend Cash Flow section is made up of seven columns displaying different important information regarding dividends (if the stock has any). From left to right, these columns are:

• End of Fiscal Year Date
• Dividends Paid Per Share for that year
• Dividend Year-over-Year Growth
• Dividend Payout Ratio according to the selected metric
• End of Period number of shares
• The amount of dividends paid on the investment
• The Yield-on-Cost of the investment

Any row with asterisks means these numbers are quarterly numbers and not fiscal numbers. This case will be apparent when the end date is the current fiscal year that hasn’t ended yet.

Total Performance

The Total Performance section provides all of the relevant final performance calculations for the selected timeframe. In this section you will find:

• Dividend Growth Rate: Average Growth and Compound Annual Growth (CAGR)
• Stock Performance vs S&P 500 Performance over the same timeframe

Changing Timeframes

You can change timeframes on the Performance Chart just like you can on other FAST Graphs. This can be done by clicking the orange boxes at the top of the chart, or by using the slider at the bottom of the chart.
The slider at the bottom of the chart shows the stock price line (instead of earnings, like the Historical Graph) so you can easily select the range you want to see.

Dividend Cashflow

End of Fiscal Year Date

This column shows the date for each row in the section as End of Fiscal Year (or fiscal quarters if the full fiscal year isn’t available or complete).

Dividends Per Share

The Dividends Per Share column shows the total dividends per share during each fiscal year (or quarter) for the selected timeframe. This can either show dividends declared or paid for the year.

Dividend Growth

The Dividend Growth column displays year-over-year growth of the dividends per share.

Dividend Payout Ratio

The Dividend Payout Ratio column displays the payout ratio for the metric you have chosen. This is the number that is displayed by the honeydew dividend line on the historical graph.

End of Period Number of Shares

This column displays the End of Period number of shares for the investment made at the beginning of the selected timeframe. By default, FAST Graphs uses a $10,000 investment, but this can be changed at any time.

This column can also be changed if you choose to reinvest dividends, because the amount of shares you have will increase.

Dividends Accrued

The dividends accrued section shows how much cash the investment would have accrued (or generated) for each year.

Below this column, in the Total Performance section, you will find the total dividends accrued for the specified timeframe highlighted green.

Yield on Cost

This column shows the Yield on Cost each year for the original investment made. This calculation is different from dividend yield. Yield on Cost represents the dividend yield on the actual cost of the investment and can grow substantially each year.

The reason why FAST Graphs displays this number is because it is a real number that the investment is generating. The stock for the given year could have a Dividend Yield of 3%, but if the investment was made at a lower price years prior and the dividends increased, the yield on the investment (or Yield on Cost) is actually higher than what an investment today would make.

Essentially, the Yield on Cost shows the yield of the investment, while the Dividend Yield shows the yield on an investment today. Yield on Cost helps depict making a good investment at value and holding long term to grow income.

Total Performance

Some companies may not start paying dividends until later in their lives, so the dividends could have only been occurring for 5 years even if you are looking at a 20-year timeframe.

Dividend Growth Rate

This section will show the Average Growth Rate and the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of the dividends for the selected timeframe. The years of actual completed dividends will be shown in this section as well.

Stock Performance vs S&P 500 Performance

This section will show the total performances of both the selected stock and the S&P 500 for easy comparison. The rows in this section are:

• Dividends: this is the total dividends paid for the selected timeframe
• Growth: this is the growth of the investment for the selected timeframe
• Annualized ROR (w/o Div): shows the annualized rate of return of the investment without including dividends into the calculation
• Growth and Dividends: shows the growth of the investment plus the total dividends
• Total Annualized ROR: shows the annualized rate of return of the investment, including dividend
